In this post...
On Sunday, we were able to gather for worship at Camalote Baptist Church.
Our pastor, Bro. Troy, delivered a message of hope with the key idea that little is much when God is in it. The church service was a blessing to our spirit to see families gather to worship. Pastor Floyd’s son led the congregation in songs of worship. The children in the church came forward to recite scripture and prayer.
For some reason that I cannot explain other than the Spirit moving, watching my children in this place, singing with these foreigners, brought a multitude of emotions to my heart. To the world, that’s what we are when visiting a different country — foreigners. But because of Jesus’s sacrifice, we are all family. You can’t help but get a glimpse of heaven in a situation like this.
We enjoyed our last lunch with Nelson and Ethel. We grabbed our items and shared our “see you soon.”
Judah and his new friends were equally as sad to say goodbye, but we promised we’d all see each other again.
We made a stop at The Boy’s Country club just in time to pray with Allan, one of the boys that have made it through the entirety of the program. We have seen Allan grow and be part of this program since our first group visited in 2016. It was a blessing to us to watch the fruit of the labor that has been given through this program.
See ya later Wish Willies! (These black spiny-tailed iguanas like to hang out on the walls around town.)
The international airport is located in Belize City. We have never stayed overnight in the city since it is only an hour’s drive from Camalote. But since we had to be in the city early in the morning for our Covid test in order to fly home, we decided to spend the night.
We stayed at the Best Western in Belize City. I booked the hotel based on the good reviews, but little did I know that we were arriving at a small jungle oasis in the middle of Belize City. We really enjoyed this experience and little time of relaxation before our trek home.
Little did we know what a struggle it would be getting home the next day!
