We recently received Certificate of Occupancy for our Lake House Project and the very same day we began moving in furniture! My sister-in-law started this project nearly 6 months ago and we have been collecting decor and ordering furniture all along the way. At this point in time, we are still feeling the after-effects of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused some changes along the way due to manufacturer delays on some of the products we had chosen. For that very reason, we tried to order as many things as early as possible to avoid any delays when the move-in day arrived. Thankfully, I have now been able to reclaim my carport that had been taken over by boxes upon boxes of furniture and decor.
We can finally say that everything came together just as it should and we have finished the little touches that will make our property ready for vacation rentals. This has been a joyful opportunity for us to have full control over the design aspects and decor. My sister-in-law, Erin, and I started a Pinterest board at the beginning of the project that showcased any ideas that we loved. Erin allowed me to channel those ideas and bring them to life in our lake home. I would bounce ideas off of her and find items that I felt like we would both like and give her the final say-so in what we should choose. It’s been a great team effort! She trusted me to find the perfect designs and decor, and she took control of my indecisiveness by making the final choice.
Through the process, we were very aware of our budget for not only building the home but also for what we could spend furnishing and decorating the house. We knew there were items that would be worth the extra money and also items that we could save money on while being cohesive with our design and not forsake quality for our future renters.
We still have work to do on the exterior of the property including some land cleanup, driveway, and landscaping. Until then, I wanted to share what the home looks like fully furnished and decorated.
